The Story

 
Futuropolis is the last city of men on Earth in the far future.  It is ruled by a council of Elders, and commands a powerful army of robots.  But it is also a city without a soul.  When the body of a primitive caveman is found, the Elders dispatch Rao and Maia to investigate.  After crossing mutant-infested caves, they discover a primitive tribe of cavemen.  The Elders decide that they should be enslaved.  Rao, who has fallen in love with Iaona, rebels.  Maia turns against him.  A fierce battle rages, at the end of which Iaona kills Maia, Futuropolis is overthrown and a new age dawns for mankind.

 

 
 

Publishing History

 
Futuropolis was originally serialized in the magazine "Junior" in 1937-1938.  A pseudo-sequel, Electropolis, followed in 1940. 
  
Futuropolis was collected in the graphic novel format by Glenat in 1977, and again reprinted in 1999.
