BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:
Kapel van Helsing.
His wife, Dana, was the daughter of a Rabbi Loew of Utrecht. The story of another member of the Loew family was
narrated by Gustav Meyrink in Der Golem.
(1594-1650)
Izak van Helsing.
A partial story of Robin Whitby, a young Slayer, was told by Greg Cox in "Blood
and Brine", Tales of the Slayer II. Izak was killed fighting
alongside Captain Blood whose biography was recorded by Rafael Sabatini.
Raziel van Helsing.
Raziel's second wife was a cousin of Lorna Doone whose life was recounted in the eponymous biography by R.D. Blackmore.
Raziel disappeared at sea during the ill-fated voyage of Lemuel Gulliver, whose story was told by Jonathan Swift.
Jeremiah van Helsing.
Jeremiah's wife, Ann Boon, was the grandaughter of his arch-enemy James Boon, founder of the town of Jerusalem's
Lot, whose unofficial historian is Stephen KIng. Jeremiah was ultimately killed by the necromancer Joseph Curwen,
whose story was recorded by H.P. Lovecraft.
Mazhira van Helsing.
Mazhira was the mother of Natthy Bummpo whose life was chronicled by Fenimore Cooper.
Yakob van Helsing.
Yakob's wife was the grand-daughter of the witch Melinda Warren, whose descendents have been featured in the television
series, Charmed.
Gideon van Helsing.
Gideon sailed with Long John Silver (whose life was partially recorded by R.L. stevenson), had a liaison with Madame
Minuit (who was a friend to young Jack Sparrow, according to biographer Rob Kidd), avenged his grandfather by destroying
Joseph Curwen and was ultimately killed by the Headless Horseman, first recorded by Washington Irving.
Talia van Helsing.
Talia became the mother of John Carter of Virginia, whose life was chronicled by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Ithamar van Helsing.
Ithamar fell in love with a native female werewolf (of a race later discovered by Agents Mulder and Scully in the
X-file entitled Shapes
according to Marilyn Osborn) when he accompanied Lewis and Clark. He later fought the Esoteric Order of Dagon,
who was also investigated by H.P. Lovecraft.
Tivel van Helsing.
Tivel met Arthur Gordon Pym (whose narrative was taken down by E. A. Poe) and sailed on the Pequod under Captain
Ahab (mentioned by Herman Melville). He married one of the Mayfair witches, whose stories have been chronicled
by Ann Rice. He died following his involvement in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by the Amsterdammer Club
and the Gun Club, the latter being an institution monitored by Jules Verne.
Aharon van Helsing.
Aharon went to Europe, met his cousin Abraham, and in Rome, married a granddaughter of the 15th Phantom. He traveled
with Captain Nemo (whose life was chronicled by Verne) before returning to the United States after the Civil War.
There, he fought Dr. Loveless (investigated by John Kneubuhl in Wild
Wild West), helped Oscar Zoroaster Diggs escape Barnum in a
balloon (an event whose consequences were later recorded by L. Frank Baum), and duelled Rhett Butler (whose life
was partially told by Margaret Mitchell). In Haiti, he helped overthrow President Domingue and the evil Mayes (whose
story was recorded by Arthur Morrison).
Malachi van Helsing.
Malachi was involved with the Netherland-Sumatra company (as revealed by A. C. Doyle), fought alongside John Reid
against the Black Arrow (according to George W. Trendle), was in Klondike with Jack London and had an affair with
Josephine Balasamo (an adventuress whose life was recorded by Maurice Leblanc and Rick Lai). He met Jules de Grandin
in Haïti (according to biographer Seabury Quinn) and accompanied Challenger and Roxton's expedition to the
Lost World, as told by A. C. Doyle. He died on the Titanic.
Ruven van Helsing.
Ruven accompanied Doc Ardan ib his 1925 polar expedition (The life of Doc Ardan has been chronicled by Kenneth
Robeson, Guy d'Armen and Win Eckert) and Prof Littlejohn to the Mountains of Madness in 1929, according to H.P.
Lovercraft. In Hollywood, in 1930, he married Olga Krichnoff, the daughter of Arsene Lupin and Sonia Krichnoff
(according to biographer Maurice Leblanc), who was mutilated by Barnum and became the model for the conclusion
of the movie Freaks.
He fought evil houngans such as Rodil Mocquino (whose career was later recorded by Maxwell Grant) and, with Orson
Welles' assistance, Dr. Saturday (ditto, by Dennis Wheatley). He lived with Carême Proudfoot, whose sister
Evangeline's life story was told by William Hjortsberg. Riven was ultimately killed by Bonaparte Gallia, whose
sinister career was investigated by Ian Fleming.
Ohisver van Helsing.
Ohisver accompanied Kerouac, then Guevara in their travels. He took part in the Shop's clean up of Mill Valley,
as recorded by Jack Finney and Stephen King. He worked in Haïti with Soulagé Minfort, a houngan investigated
by Henri Vernes. He took in Patience Latrelle, the daughter of Bonaparte Gallia and Simone Latrelle. He later helped
Barnabas Collins against the Leviathans (according to Dan Curtis) and became friends with Mamaloa Edmonds (who
was investigated by David Chase & Zekial Marko) and Jericho Drumm. He was killed in 2005 by the mysterious
BlackSpear, a successor of the notorious Black Coats.
